The 2021 Design Week in Jerusalem embraced the theme Runaway Circus, embodying the craving for hedonistic escape. The TAKEOFF exhibit in the attic blends fantasy and reality. Visitors enter aircraft-inspired units for an escape to nowhere, resonating with the post-pandemic longing for travel.
Playing with aircraft dimensions, visitors become actors in a staged set, confronting endless reflections in 45 degree angled glass mirrors.
Unlike actual flighs, TAKEOFF does not have a physical journey. Instead, it invites introspection and levitation - stages of transitions. The flight encapsulates transformation: from one place to another, reality to reality, and climate to climate, challenging time as passengers remain suspended between heaven and earth.
