This publication is a critical and poetic travelogue combining photographs, written observations, and dialogue. It captures eight days of immersive field research at the 2025 World Expo, held on Yumeshima (Japanese for “Island of Dreams”).

The book brings together over 180 photographs by Tokyo-based Noam Levinger, 140 analogue images by WEINBENAMI, a long-form essay, and a roundtable conversation. Dressed in futuristic garments by designer Rukpong, Charles and Shai navigated the fairground as a temporary city: engaging with visitors, blending into crowds, and testing the boundaries of presence in a staged environment.

The Expo is explored as a space of contradictions: a showcase of national visions and optimism, but also of inequality and control. From the vast calm of the Grand Ring to the atmosphere of constructed excitement, the book reflects on the ways the future is presented—and what that reveals about the present.

The book will be published in the spring of 2026 by MER (Borgerhoff & Lamberigts, Ghent) as a limited collector’s edition of 500 copies.
